Football
The Edina Football team will play in the Class 6A state quarterfinals against Eden Prairie at Osseo High School tomorrow at 6 p.m. The team, seeded fourth, upset first-seed Forest Lake 31–30 in overtime during section finals Oct. 31. Senior Chase Bjorgaard scored three touchdowns.
Girls’ Swim & Dive
The Edina Varsity Girls’ Swim & Dive team will compete in their final day of the Class 2AA Sections Tournament tomorrow at South View Middle School. The junior varsity team competed in the JV Conference Championships on Oct. 24–25. The team placed first overall, with 88.6 points.
Adapted Soccer
The South Suburban Flyers (P.I.) will play the quarterfinals game against the Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka Robins on Nov. 11 at White Bear Lake Area High School. The team is seeded third going into the state tournament and consists of high school students from Bloomington, Richfield, Eden Prairie, and Edina. The bracket for the South Suburban Jets (C.I.) is yet to be announced.
Girls’ Cross-Country Running
The Girls’ Cross-Country Running team placed third overall with a score of 96 at the Girls Class AAA State Tournament at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights on Nov. 1. Freshman Lyla Drayna placed 11th in the 5000m race, with a time of 18:08.9. Sophomores Gillian Moser, Kate Hanson, Maren Ohe, Anna Irwin, and Eva Jain all finished in the top 100. Senior Lillian Dodd placed 108th. The team was also the Section 6AAA runner-up.
Boys’ Cross-Country Running
The Boys’ Cross-Country Running team sent three players to compete individually at the Boys Class AAA State Tournament at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights on Nov. 1. Senior Sander Ohe placed 24th in the 5000m race, with a time of 15:58.4. Sophomore Rocco Hawthorne Arroyo placed 49th, and sophomore Isaak Koivula Schadow placed 57th.
Girls’ Soccer
The Edina Girls’ Soccer team fell 1–3 to Chanhassen in semifinals during the Class 2AAA sections tournament Oct. 8. The team finished with a record of 8–2–5 overall. Seniors Mikaela Caverly and Brenna Prellwitz were selected to be on the All-State Tournament team. Seniors Kelly Sprague, Caverly, Evie Kachmarzinski, and Prellwitz were selected to be on the All-Conference Team. Senior Lucia Begg received an All-Conference honorable mention.
Forensics
Members of the debate team competed at the Apple Valley MinneApple Debate Tournament Oct. 31–Nov. 2. In Congressional Debate, seniors Hannah Hein and Anwar Abdihashi placed 5th and 6th, respectively, each winning a bid to the Tournament of Champions (TOC). Senior Mihi Amara finished in semifinals and also won a TOC bid. In Lincoln-Douglas, senior Noah Reardon finished in octafinals and won a bid to the TOC.
