Lisa Petersen is retiring as Copy Center Clerk and Office Assistant. Having spent 12 years working at Edina High School, Petersen is retiring as all of her daughters have graduated from EHS.
Working at the copy center comes with a slew of responsibilities but also a number of rewards. Petersen is in charge of printing all copies sent to the center. This includes quizzes, homework assignments, and even final exams. While this work does keep Petersen “busy all day long,” she still benefits from the position, with increased freedom at work.
This freedom allows Petersen to connect with her family at work, especially her three daughters.
“ My favorite memory is when my youngest [daughter] would come in here with her friends and have lunch,” Petersen said.
As Petersen nears retirement, she is considering many things to do as a retiree, including travelling. In particular, she is especially excited to end the academic structure of working from August to May.
In addition to looking towards her future, Petersen described her goal of working at EHS to be “helpful.”
“[I hope] that I was able to do what I could for the teachers,” Petersen said.
As a dozen years at EHS wrap up, Petersen’s impact is felt across the school by teachers.
“I actually didn’t know [that Petersen was retiring] for a while, so I’m kind of sad because she is a good friend.” Latin teacher Emese Drew said. “Secondly, I’m gonna miss her timely work and just being gracious with us when we submit last-minute copy requests, and just being always so kind and efficient and doing above and beyond her duties.
