Model UN
Edina’s Model UN (EMUN) team will participate in their Spring Conference at Macalester College this Friday. The team has traveled to two different conferences this year: in Philadelphia from Jan. 22–25, and in Washington, D.C. this past weekend. On Jan. 16, EMUN organized and hosted its second conference at Edina High School since a pause in 2018.
Dance
Both the Edina Dance Varsity Jazz and Varsity Kick teams competed in their respective Class AAA state finals this past weekend. The Jazz team placed fourth in their category, and the Kick team placed sixth in theirs. At the 2AAA section tournament on Jan. 31, the Jazz team earned first place, and the Kick team took second.
Cheer
Edina Cheer competed at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida, from Feb. 4–9, where the varsity team placed fifth out of 50 teams in the Medium Varsity Game Day division. In the Small JV Game Day division, the JV team placed third out of 13 teams.
Girls’ Hockey
Girls’ Hockey will compete in the Class AA state tournament quarterfinals today at 1 p.m. against Bemidji. They won their section finals 1–0 against Benilde-St. Margaret’s with a goal by senior Cate McCoy on Feb. 13. In regular-season play, they finished their conference as undefeated with 10 wins and two ties, placing first in their conference.
Boys’ Hockey
The Boys’ Hockey team faces off against the Armstrong Cooper Wings tonight at 7 p.m. in the section quarterfinals. They are seeded number two heading into the section tournament. The team placed second in their conference with nine wins, three losses, and one tie.
Boys’ Swim and Dive
Boys’ Swim will compete in section prelims that take place tonight at 6 p.m., and Boys’ Dive competes the following day, also at 6 p.m. They finished their dual meets as conference champions on Jan. 30. The team competed in true team state, placing second by a close margin of 19 points on Jan. 24.
Alpine Ski
Alpine Ski competed in the state championship on Feb. 10, where the boys’ team placed third while the girls’ team took eighth. Individually, junior Michael Jakobe earned an eighth-place finish. Alpine Ski Boys’ and Girls’ teams placed first in the 6A sections tournament on Feb. 3.
