Though Edina has many state titles on display in glass cases in front of the office, they are not a complete record of all of the athletic endeavours of our school’s student body. A few days ago I sat down with juniors Willie Benjamin and Peter Nelson and asked them about a sport many share a love for, house league soccer.
1. What does House League Soccer mean to you?
PN: It’s what I live for!
WB: Sick goals, grass stains, sweat, blood, and the occasional use of steroids.
2. What do you do in the off-season to stay in shape?
PN: [I] play FIFA and watch youtube highlight videos.
WB: Beachbody workouts, I cellie without my J on.
3. What is your primary position and why do you like it?
PN: Striker, I’m a goal scorer.
WB: Captain, game maker, star, Messi, Ronaldo, ya know the usual.
4. What is one thing you want people to know about your sport?
PN: It’s a big deal!
WB: It’s hardcore, only true athletes play house.
