Summer Concert Preview
On those warm, eighty degree summer nights, nothing beats getting together for a summer concert. The cool breeze carrying the music, the smell of fresh picnics, and the free chatter of post-school excitement defines summer. Luckily, Minnesota has no absence of concerts, and this summer is no exception. The following are a few notable concerts coming here:
One Republic: On June 17th at 7:00 pm, the Target Center in Minneapolis will open its doors to an array of rock, pop, and indie music as One Republic performs for their “Native Summer Tour”. With popular groups The Script and American Authors opening for them, a great night is guaranteed, and a perfect start to the summer is assured. http://onerepublic.com/events
Cities 97 Basilica Block Party: Originally a fundraiser to help pay for the structural restoration of The Basilica of Saint Mary, this annual block party holds a wide array of popular stars. This year, appearances from Train, Ingrid Michaelson, Alpha Rev, and many more will be made on the 11th and 12th of July at the Basilica Landmark in Minneapolis. http://www.basilicablockparty.org/
Lakefront Music Fest: This two-day music festival in Prior Lake at Lakefront Park will feature artists like Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray, and Maggie Rose. Come down to the park on July 18th and 19th for picnics, barbeque, and a whole lot of music. http://www.lakefrontmusicfest.com/
Grand Stand: Every year, the Minnesota State Fair hosts an abundance of concerts with a wide variety of genres and styles. This summer starting August 22nd all the way until Labor Day, artists like Paramore, Linkin Park, Thirty Seconds to Mars, and Fall Out Boy will make an appearance at the fairgrounds. With tickets cheaper than most concert prices, and a lineup ranging from rock to pop to country, this event offers something for everyone. http://www.mnstatefair.org/entertainment/stages/?stage=grandstand
