Members of Bows of Love, a community organization dedicated to helping Edina heal after the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School, tie ribbons around trees to express solidarity with affected families.
Eight community members put together an event for the public to spread the ribbons through more neighborhoods. Although Sarah Henning, one of the eight community members leading the Bows of Love project, said they expected 30 people to come, the number rose to 300 at the end of the first day and continued to rise the next.
The event started in one neighborhood, grew throughout Minneapolis, and eventually spread through the Twin Cities.
“Our whole goal was—after this horrific tragedy—to show immense love in our community,” Bows of Love founder Henning said.
These statements of support are evident all around popular areas in Edina. At 50th and France, many business owners have signs displayed with hearts stating that they stand with Annunciation. Green and blue ribbons are ubiquitous throughout many parks including Rosland Park.
