For the past two years, Lauren Chang has graced the people of Zephyrus with her easygoingness and open-minded personality. In her two years on staff, she has worked diligently as both a staff writer and the features section editor. Working above and beyond, she has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on those who have had the honor of working with her.
As a junior, Lauren was originally dismayed at the idea of joining the newspaper. Fortunately, she had friends who were on staff and expressed their enjoyment being a member of staff. “When I heard about [Zephyrus] the first time, I was like ‘there is no way I’m joining the newspaper’ because I hated writing… people say it’s like a different form of writing and you kind of don’t believe it and then I joined and I actually really enjoyed it,” Lauren said.
Her favorite article to write was her very first, an article about the new Edina Girls’ Basketball head coach. “I feel like [it was my favorite] because it was new so learning how to do everything was just really fun and I [also] got to talk to some really cool people,” she said.
You know what she doesn’t think is cool? Animal print. “I feel like I couldn’t pull it off, some people maybe [could]… It just makes the outfit too busy,” Lauren said. “There’s things from the 2000s style that I just really hate.”
As Lauren prepares to graduate from Edina High School, she definitely wont forget one thing: her AirPods. “One thing I can’t live without is probably my AirPods because I love listening to music. If I’m not listening to a teacher then I’m probably listening to music,” she said.
As for her post-secondary plans, Lauren will be attending UC Davis where she will probably continue to enjoy going to the gym, playing sports, and hanging out with friends. Whatever she does, she will have the unequivocal support of everyone on Zephyrus.
