All About the New Minnesota Twins Players
If you are planning on watching any Twins games this year but don’t know many of the new faces, hopefully this will help you familiarize yourself with the new players this season!
Kurt Suzuki- To fill the gap Drew Butera left, the Twins picked up Suzuki as a starting catcher, as Joe Mauer is now consistently playing first base. Suzuki has always been a pretty good player, but isn’t extremely well-known for some odd reason.
Jason Kubel- Yes! Kuuuuuubel is back from the Diamondbacks and better than ever (hopefully). He was actually traded to the Indians in the offseason, but was traded to the Twins before he got a chance to put on a Cleveland uniform. Kubel is the starting left fielder, but may play DH relatively often.
Chris Colabello- While Colabello played fifty five games in the majors for the Twins last year, he is still relatively unknown to most casual fans. Colabello is the starting right fielder and has been playing quite well as of late. His batting average to this point of the season is .353.
Josmil Pinto- Much like Colabello, Pinto played a few games in the big leagues last year, twenty one to be precise, but is still a new face to Twins fans. Pinto is the starting designated hitter according to the depth charts, and has already hit four homers this season. A textbook power hitter who can hit the long ball, but can’t keep his batting average over .250 with ease.
Ricky Nolasco- Perhaps our biggest offseason acquisition, Nolasco is the first man in the starting pitching rotation. Last year with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he made fifteen starts with an 8-3 record. Look for Nolasco to be our ace this year.
Phil Hughes- Another pitcher we added to our starting rotation, Hughes came from the Yankees and had a few years of mixed success. The 6’5” right-hander has a 1-1 record through four starts this year with twenty one innings pitched and twenty strikeouts. If the offense can produce a few runs to back Hughes up, he can go late into games.
Noah Chestler isn’t your average joe, he’s a little bit better than mediocre, with an exceptional body. The claim is confirmed after taking a look...
