New PLTW Laser Engraver
When it comes to the latest and greatest technology at Edina High School, Project Lead the Way students are often ahead of the game. Every day, these students gain valuable skills through technology and recently have been learning the ins and outs of a new addition to their classroom – a state-of-the-art laser engraver.
The department purchased the laser engraver with a grant from the Edina Education Fund and knows how privileged it is to possess this kind of technology. “This is a very advanced piece of technology,” said PLTW teacher Jodi Ramirez. “It’s pretty amazing for students to be able to use these in classrooms.”
However, PLTW students aren’t the only people who can benefit from this innovative technology. During this holiday season, the laser engraver is open for business, and PLTW students are ready to take your orders. The laser engraver is able to engrave anything but bare metal, so there are virtually endless possibilities.
“The laser engraver offers the ability for people to customize their devices and express themselves,” said sophomore PLTW student Trent Fox.
Some of the most popular items to engrave so far have been tech products such as smartphones and laptops.
At a cost of only $2/minute, it’s less expensive than many other alternatives and is installed right here at EHS in room 220, so you can stop in anytime between 3:15 and 4:15 Monday through Thursday. Engraving your holiday gifts couldn’t be easier, so take advantage of this awesome opportunity to personalize your gifts and support Edina students.
