Did you know that there are twelve certificates, diplomas, and/or degrees you can receive while studying in college? If you didn’t, it’s time you stop by the College and Career Center at Edina High School. The CCC is located in room 310—next to the counseling department. They’re open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The CCC works as a drop-in center, so no appointments are needed.

The CCC is extremely helpful for junior and seniors who are trying to prepare or plan for college. However, it is available to all grades.

Students should use this time during study halls, or open periods, they could also use it during Collaborative Wednesday, or after school. The CCC helps with the general process of navigating students through the college process, and also helping students filling out the FAFSA and other college-related forms.

Recently, the CCC has made multiple changes to enhance their experience. They used to only organize the college visits, but now they help students figure out their post-secondary advising. This could be a number of things such as jobs, college, military, etc.

The CCC has about 70 volunteers, and Mr. Tri Pham is the coordinator. They help students know about upcoming events regarding college visits and more. Recently, they have held events to help students with the college process such as filling out the FAFSA. On Wednesday, Feb. 25th, there was a fair for summer enrichment opportunities. These opportunities included employment, internships, and college based opportunities.

“Deciding what to do after high school should be a fun and exciting process” said Mr. Pham. But he realizes its easy to say that, but requires a lot of time and effort. That’s why he helps students, and prepare’s them for life after high school. So If you have any questions, or need any help, the CCC is a great resource.
