“Hard times make strong men; strong men make good times; good times make weak men; weak men make hard times”

As the school year comes to a close, Lillian Gundberg will be thoroughly missed by her fellow Zephyrus staff members. Her bright personality and dedication to Zephyrus will always be remembered and cherished.

Lillian served as an out-of-class artist, tending to her assignments online throughout the school year. She started demonstrating her interest in journalism at the beginning of her senior year when she joined Zephyrus.

As an out-of-class artist, Lillian finds some aspects of out of class more difficult than others in class. “I would say one thing I kind of miss with Zephyrus is that a lot of my friends are in [class], so it kind of sucks that I don’t get to hang out with them. But, overall it has been a [great] experience,” she said. Although some aspects may be difficult, she never lets working asynchronously affect her work on Zephyrus or her willingness to learn. “[Zephyrus] has helped me work with art that is for a thematic purpose, which is something I am not really used to; as well as my collaboration skills with writers,” she said.

Lillian has made many accomplishments, including her art for an in-depth this year. “I would say one of my favorite parts was getting to work on an in-depth with some of my friends, Carmela and Jane. It was nice to be able to come up with ideas together. [Although] it didn’t win any awards, it was still fun to collaborate with my friends in a way I never have gotten to before,” she said.

As an addition to being a dedicated artist on Zephyrus, Lillian takes two AP art classes to expand her horizons. In addition to producing digital art, Lillian is also proficient in sculpting, painting, and drawing. She plans to use each of these skills beyond high school.

As for after graduation, Lillian plans to attend the University of California San Diego in the fall of 2024 and will focus on dual majors in art and STEM. “I really want to try and blend both of the aspects of my education in [college],” she said.

Olivia (She/Her) is happy to return to Zephyrus as the new Photography Editor! She enjoys taking pictures, playing tennis, spending time with her friends, and reading books. Her favorite foods include strawberries, oats, and watermelon sour patch kids, but she likes to peruse the aisles of Lunds & Byerlys in in her free time looking for new things to try. Whenever her life is feeling monotonous, she buys another water bottle, but still manages to be dehydrated most of the time. She spent her summer visiting Europe and now her dream is to study abroad in Spain one day-- for now, you can find her paddle boarding at her cabin pretending she is on a beach in Barcelona.
