Intersport dating is pervasive at EHS. Today we’ll examine some of the many couples in cross country, hockey, and nordic.
While most couples said there wasn’t a lot of competition between them, hockey player, Kelly Mcgarvey stated, “There’s competition between us because I could beat him in a fight,” about boyfriend Matt Nelson.
When asked who the better athlete is, nordic skiier, Sami Peterson claimed, “ Oh for sure me. I’m just awesome.” In fact, six out of six athletes claimed they were the better athlete in the couple. Matt Nelson added, “I just think she’s kinda soft.”
What is your partners pre-game ritual? MN: She does witch dances. KM: He freestyle raps and has rap-battles. He also plays Dragon Veil on his phone.
As far as how the men help their women deal with losing, Conor Hussey, nordic skiier, sticks with the typical: “I just be there for her, console her.” On the other hand, Kyle Staunton, cross country runner, said, “I get away from her; she doesn’t like to be around people so I keep my distance.”
Athletes often become very cocky when they win. Peterson said about her boyfriend, “Once he got second at a JV race, which is really good for a first year, and he was a cocky for a few days…” Downey had similar sentiments, “He has a cute strut after he wins. JK, it’s not cute.”
Sometimes, athletic performance reflects performance elsewhere. Hussey stated, “I’d say so; she’s great at everything she does.” Peterson flat-out said, “no.” Downey said, “Heck yes, winky face.”
Lastly, these beautiful couples have a few words of advice for other couples. Downey sassily stated,”Don’t do three of the same sports as your boyfriend..” On a brighter note, Staunton said, “Don’t let the sport change anything in your relationship.”
