Funniest Olympic Sports
With the Winter Olympics approaching, people everywhere are starting to get pumped up. While the Olympic games are important events that are to be taken seriously, there is still some humor to be found. In honor of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, here are some of the funniest events offered.
Diving:
Diving is an extremely impressive sport that takes years and years of practice to achieve the perfection necessary to receive a high score. While the quick movements are impressive, the instant replays in slow motion that highlight the effects of gravity at those kinds of speeds is definitely a reason to watch.
Speed Walking:
Otherwise known as Power Walking or Race Walking, this sport involves, well, walking as fast as you can. But it’s not that easy. One foot must always remain on the ground for it to be classified as “walking.” The combination of rolling your shoulders and swaying to stay balanced and gain momentum creates a phenomenon worth tuning in for.
Water Polo:
Because many of us may have experienced this sport in middle school gym class, we know that it’s a difficult combination to both tread water and and pass a ball to score goals. However, the equipment for men includes Speedos and helmets to protect the ears and tie under the chin. That alone is a sight to see.
