With the fall sports season coming to a close and many teams progressing to state tournaments, there’s no question that students at Edina are athletic. Cross-training is important to these athletes so that they can stay in shape during the off season. So the question is, which gym is the best to work out at? Zephyrus has looked into several gyms and considered the pros and cons of each.
Lifetime Fitness
While there are no Lifetime Fitness gyms in Edina, the gym has quite a bit to offer. The Eden Prairie location offers many classes, along with cardio equipment, weights, studios, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, a spa, café, and clinic. Along with all of these amenities, the Bloomington South Lifetime Fitness also has a rock climbing wall. Lifetime Fitness is the most expensive gym compared to LA Fitness and the YMCA. LA Fitness
With one of their locations in Edina, LA Fitness is easily accessible to Edina residents. It offers classes, cardio equipment, weights, a basketball court, and racquetball courts. They also offer personal trainers, and an indoor swimming pool. For more information go to www.lafitness.com.
The YMCA
The Southdale YMCA is located near Target. The newly renovated club offers personal training, group exercise classes, cardio and weight equipment, swimming lessons, wellness programs and fitness services. The YMCA also has a rock climbing wall and a swim team. Being a member at the YMCA is more affordable and costs $38 a month if you are under 18 years old, and $65 a month if you are over 18.
