As we enter hockey season, students like senior Jimmy Jensen and junior Jill Sampson will have no problem deciding what to wear to games. When in doubt, Jensen throws on his green and white striped overalls, and Sampson refuses to enter a game without her Edina mittens. Edina High School has an unspoken dress code for sports games, and hockey is no exception.
To survive the chilly stands, winter accessories are a must. Guys usually wear manly yellow choppers, paired with a winter hat, letter jacket, sweatshirt, while girls sport trendy headbands, mittens, and/or a scarves, typically in Edina green, black, or white.
Anyone can play it safe at a hockey game by dressing in Edina colors or sporting a hockey jersey, but some like to show their spirit with statement pieces like Jensen’s overalls, old Edina dance/cheer outfits, or flashy sequins.
While we may not know the outcome of every game, we can be sure of an enthusiastic, well-dressed cheering section this season.
