As Tim Bethune moves into his next chapter, he looks back on his time in Zephyrus with happiness and a sense of satisfaction. Tim greatly enjoyed his first year as part of Zephyrus, including his roles as photographer and part of the multimedia team. “Zephyrus has taught me so much about journalism, about the school, and just about working in a team in general,” Tim said.
His favorite project above all that he worked on for Zephyrus was making a broadcast segment on the 2024 fall musical, “Alice by Heart.” “I am looking forward to continuing my theater journey, as well as pursuing a career in education,” Tim said.
As an avid participant in Edina Unified programs, such as Theatre for All, some of his favorite roles include Davey in “Newsies,” Jason in “Wit,” Ed Carmichael in “You Can’t Take It With You,” and Paste Kid in “Judy Moody & Stink: The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Treasure Hunt.” In addition to Zephyrus and Edina Unified, another one of Tim’s extracurricular activities is rugby, which he’s played since his freshman year.
Thanks in part to Zephyrus, Tim has learned new skills that he will take with him to college and new friendships. “Zephyrus has given me the ability to work with people that I normally would never work with and to build an ability to meet some of the greatest people I know,” he said. Tim will be missed at Zephyrus just as much as he will miss his Zephyrus friends. He has learned a lot from being part of the staff and will miss the camaraderie of the publications room.
Next year, Tim plans on attending Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan where he plans on double majoring in Special Education and Theatre. “I’ve been interacting with the staff as well as the kids in Edina Unified for a long time,” he said. “A lot of them have helped me build my personality and what I want to do in the future.”
