March Madness: a silly bet that so many sports fans consider a sporty competition that lets them sit on their couch. But this year it has become more than that. Here in Edina, certain people have made March Madness brackets of their own, rating the opposing gender over Twitter accounts.
This entire system sickens me. Whoever began scrawling out the names of their victims on these empty brackets obviously has no real self-worth. There’s no reason to judge other people and establish certain people’s superiority unless you see the need to put yourself in a powerful position. Maybe as compensation for being inferior somewhere else.
Judging people on physical traits, as if it doesn’t matter how people act, is simply wrong. But the worst part is that this is happening for both genders. After the account degrading women became popular, there was an account doing the same thing to guys. And though this one was less degrading and more playful, it is still horrible. Mostly because the person behind this one apparently thinks two wrongs make a right. But the most puzzling aspect of this one is the fact that the guys are judged based on their smell. This is really just an infinitely stupid way of judging people. No one’s legitimate, natural body odor smells good. The way people actually smell is horrible. So the specific person’s choice of deodorant or cologne is actually the thing being judged. And because of modern influences, and the stereotypical guy smell, they are all pretty much the same. Musky, and manly, sometimes with a hint of sweetness.
These types of judgemental wrongdoings will never go away. They are a part of life but that doesn’t mean they’re bad. Human nature has a lot of negative aspects but I believe we can step beyond these and use at least a little moral judgement.

This is horrible that both genders are doing this to each other. It can really hurt someone’s self esteem and make them feel poorly about themselves. I know people at our school are better than this, and they need to start acting like it
