As a recent addition to Edina High School, Project Blush’s mission is just getting started. The club aims to help children or adults who are less fortunate by providing them with hygiene, beauty, and food products. Many EHS students have taken great interest in the new club because of its impactful purpose, and easy accessibility to join. Due to the club’s recent upbringing, many new members were immediately granted leadership positions.
EHS junior Madeline Frey recently joined the club and was automatically put into a high position. “My friend originally told me there’s a new club at Edina no one’s really on, and that we should join and try to become presidents. I completed this Google Form and talked about why I wanted to be a leader and then they told me I was one of the presidents,” Frey said. EHS junior Blake Kehoe was also granted a presidential position by expressing her interest through the Google form. As two of the three Project Blush club presidents, Kehoe and Frey quickly learned how to lead the club. “I feel that we really built the club up from the ground as we didn’t really know what we were doing before, but now we have a solid plan that we created on our own,” Frey said. With their careful planning, the club has only continued to grow. “We’ve got at least five new members from each club meeting,” Kehoe said.
Although the club has just begun, Project Blush has already organized numerous drives and events. Recently the club held a Thanksgiving drive to encourage students to donate canned goods. “We made posters around the school, as well as posts on our Instagram, encouraging students to come to drop off canned goods in Ms. Dunna’s room,” Frey said. Currently, the club is planning its upcoming Christmas drive, which will take place in late December.
Project Blush continues to spread its message via social media and posters, encouraging students to join. “I think people should join since it is a great way to meet new people, form new connections, and help the people in your community,” Kehoe said. With a mission to help others, Project Blush continues to make a difference. “I always feel good knowing that I’m helping other people and supporting my community,” Frey said.
