Nora Kreider, Arts & Entertainment editor for the 2024–25 school year, is a graduating senior from Edina High School and will soon turn the page on the next chapter of her life.
When she isn’t writing articles or procrastinating on them, you can find Nora making coffee, tutoring, listening to music, and reading. Her love of reading was what sparked her interest in writing. “I’ve always really liked to read, so writing is a natural interest to come out of that,” she said.
During her sophomore year of high school, Nora decided to apply to Zephyrus. “I joined Zephyrus to get better at writing and explore a side of it that I never had because writing articles is definitely more creative than writing essays, so I really liked having that creative outlet,” she said.
Some may assume the moments Nora cherished most in Zephyrus would be finishing an article or seeing her name in print, but that’s not the case; the memories she loves the most have nothing to do with writing. “My favorite memories are having fun conversations, and one thing I’ve always liked about Zephyrus is [that I’m able] to talk about music and TV shows or news and politics or even community stuff,” Nora said. “I feel like I’m a lot more informed than I would have been had I not been in Zephyrus.”
While in Zephyrus, Nora had the opportunity to actualize an idea she had come up with independently. “My favorite article I wrote was about a student at the school and his service dog because it was really rewarding. It was an idea that I had come up with, and I had reached out to people by myself, and it was cool to see something that was just an idea turn into something that I was proud of and [get] good feedback,” she said.
Nora will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison next fall, where she will major in Political Science. Before she leaves, she would like to leave some final parting advice: “sunset pictures are really ugly, and I hate when people post sunset pictures because they’re always blurry.”
