Edina Varsity Boys’ Hockey skates through the season, nearly undefeated

The Edina High School Boys’ Varsity Hockey Team has always been known for its impressive record and culture of excellence and this season is no exception. From sophomores to seniors, the team is extremely strong this year, with thirty talented and well-trained players.

The team has claimed victory in almost every game this season, with the exception of two losses, both against Minnetonka, who seem to be holding to their position as Edina’s number one rival. “They’ve been playing us tough,” captain Sammy Walker said. The Hornets, however, beat Minnetonka 8-2 on Jan. 25. “When we beat them, we had our whole team. When we played them last weekend, Mike [Vorlicky] had a concussion and Demetrios [Koumontzis] was ineligible,” junior Drew Bishop said.

Despite the loss, the boys are still very confident, as they currently hold their position in the first place spot for MN Boys’ Hockey Hub’s Class 2A ranking. Both Walker and Bishop agreed that “this has been one of the best seasons so far.”
