The Edina School Board unanimously approved the proposed 2024–26 collective bargaining agreement between the district and the Minnesota School Employees Association paraprofessionals during the School Board’s first regular meeting on Sept. 9.
The agreement outlines a two-year contract effective from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2026, and was presented by Director of Human Resources Sonya Sailor and Director of Finance & Operations Mert Woodard.
The contract includes an updated wage schedule and defines two additional holidays for paraprofessionals, given on the first two days of spring break. The agreement also offers increased healthcare benefits to paraprofessionals through outlined group insurance benefits including life, dental, and medical insurance.
In other agenda items, the school board:
- Reviewed the Community Education and Strategic Department’s 2024 summer planning.
- Approved school board priorities, which are set to appear during the October meeting.
- Approved 2024–2025 superintendent goals.
- Approved the refinancing of the school and facilities bonds.
- Reviewed new policies aligning with recent legislation passed—policies included 603, 616, 618, and 620, which were edited to remove redundancies and clarifications.
