On Sept. 6, Edina High School was ranked the fifth best public school in the state of Minnesota by U.S. News and World Report. The rankings were determined after U.S. News analyzed data from nearly 25,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. The publication then determined specific rankings by analyzing schools whose students had outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, reading, and science state assessments, earned qualifying scores in an array of college-level exams, and graduated in high proportions.

Troy Stein, Edina High School’s activities director and an assistant principal at the school, was thrilled after hearing news of EHS’s recent rankings. “I am proud to work with such a collaborative staff at EHS. In addition, it is an honor to serve our dedicated students that strive to perform at the highest levels,” Stein said.

Stein attributes much of Edina’s success to a system that strives to serve all students. “We have a knowledgeable staff that can push all students to find their possibilities and thrive. Our staff love what they do. In addition, if students struggle, the care and concern for student success is there to help them succeed,” Stein said.

Jenn Carter, another assistant principal at EHS, was also excited after learning of EHS’s new ranking. “I think it is a great reflection of our students, our staff, and our community, and the programs and changes we have made. It has really been fun to see the way the school has evolved over time, and it is really exciting to be in a time where we have grown so much and will only continue to grow together,” Carter said.

Going forward, Carter believes that EHS must continue to emphasize the needs of its students and staff. “We need to have an open line of communication between students and staff. While no two days are the same, we need to constantly be looking at the voices of our stakeholders to help us shape our daily decisions,” Carter said.

Devarsh Borah
Devarsh Borah, Staff Writer
Devarsh Borah (he/him), is a sophomore at Edina High School, and is excited to be back for his second year on Zephyrus. In addition to being a captain for Edina’s Congressional Debate Team, he enjoys watching sports, hanging out with friends, and most importantly…sleeping. Devarsh doesn’t live to eat, but he certainly does love to eat(He is very much open to donations of candy). You can often find Devarsh catching up with the latest T.V shows, listening to music, and continuing his patient wait for the Minnesota Vikings to finally win a Super Bowl, although by the looks of it, that's not happening anytime soon. Devarsh is ecstatic to get to know more of his fellow staff, and is looking forward to another great year on Zeph!
Leon Situ, Staff Artist
Leon Situ(He/Him), is a sophomore and a brand new addition to the Zephryus staff this year. Specializing as an artist, if he's not doing schoolwork you'll see him occasionally scrolling Pinterest or watching any animatic that enters his YouTube recommended. Other than that, you'll hear Tetris sound effects, whatever Spotify recommends, frantic scribbling, and the occasional video game explosion. One more thing, he is a bit of a procrastinator.
