Caitlin Bambery’s departure from the pubs room will leave it feeling different: Zephyrus will miss her bright ambition and determination. If you know Caitlin, you know her love for Zephyrus and the Edina community, as well as her admiration for “Harry Potter.” But she plans to bring all of those attributes to her future plans, where she will focus on political science on the pre-law track.
Caitlin’s excellent writing skills helped her climb the ladder from staff writer to News section editor. She isn’t just good at writing and working in a newsroom: she’s also the president of Student Senate, a member of Interact Club, Edina Rotary Global Scholars, and Varsity Hornettes. Outside of school, she participates in the Hennepin County Sheriff Youth Advisory Council.
As Caitlin nears the end of her Zephyrus career, she reflects on her past years with her Zeph family. “I really liked two years ago on the last day of school where we spent the whole final period outside, and it was a really nice day out,” she said. “We just got on the grass and played some games; it was a really nice day.”
The strangest place for Caitlin has to be the Edina High School parking lot. “I got a concussion because I slipped on ice and fell in the parking lot,” she said.
Caitlin has explored her interest in law throughout her time at Edina High School. “I’ve had a lot of opportunities and internships during my high school time. I’ve done internships with the county sheriff, [former State Rep.] Heather Edelson, as well as the county commissioner of Edina,” she said. “I’m really looking forward to continuing internship opportunities during university.”
This last summer before her future plans, Caitlin plans to do lots of traveling. “I’m planning a trip to go to a French speaking area, either France or Quebec, because I’ve been taking AP French this year,” she said.
Caitlin remembers her time on Zephyrus and how far she’s come. “I’m most proud of myself for breaking out of my comfort zone and making new connections,” Caitlin said. Those connections will still be there and amplified even as Caitlin leaves. We know Caitlin will do great things and will always keep her Zeph family in her heart.
