Handle bars, chinstraps, goatees and mutton chops, we have seen them all. . but on sophomores? The student body has been shocked by a shave worthy chinfull on Conor Cavinor (10). To discover what the beard world hides he and his ex girlfriend Jenna Wong (10) spoke out.
I went to talk to the boy with the beard. Conor has been able to fully grow a full beard since age 14. . . impressive. He claims it takes him “a week or two” to complete the growth of his famous chinstrap. By regularly reshaping the beard, trimming it and shampooing it, he keeps it looking prim. For these amazing feats Conor says that he gets “props” from other men for his facial hair, plus he claims his ex girlfriend “digged it”. Could this be true?
My second stop was sophomore Jessie Wong, Conor’s ex girlfriend, who remains his close friend. She sang a different tune. Wong explained that when she and Conor started dating around eighth grade, he didn’t sport the beard. After he came home from a weekend at his cabin, and he “surprised” her with the gift of a chinstrap. Secretly she hid her negative view and with that a love-hate relationship was born.
Jessie shed light on some of the reasons why many girls are against boys with stubble. First, the beard was a conversation hogger at points. People would use it as a topic to fill awkward parts of a conversation. She also described the unbearable sting from beard burn. Unfortunately no one has invented a cream or lotion for beard burn, so Jessie was left to hold her face in her hands and complain to her BF about the pain.
While Conor hides his face with the beard he no longer hides all the secrets the facial hair world entitles.
