Student Council hosted the third annual Freeze your Buns Off 5K Fun Run last Saturday at Braemer Golf Course. The run is designed to raise money for students in the Edina A Better Chance program.
This was the first year that the ABC Fun Run had a costume contest where participants dressed up in costumes that started with the letters A, B, and C and were able to win Chipotle gift cards as prizes. “I think it’s a really valuable program with great students who bring in a cool perspective to Edina,” said Page Kinner, a chemistry teacher at EHS and a tutor at the girls ABC house. Mrs. Kinner attended the race with her family who all dressed as bumble bees, even her ten-month-old daughter.
The ABC program brings qualified, highly motivated minority students from all over the United States to Edina High School for their freshman through senior years. It provides an opportunity for deserving students who would otherwise attend schools which may not have the resources to help them reach their full potential. ABC houses, feeds, and transports the students and provides a caring support system as they grow and prosper during their high school careers.
