Edina DECA Goes to State
This Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, more than one hundred Edina High School DECA students will compete at State at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Minneapolis. About 1,200 students from schools all over Minnesota will come together to show off the business skills they’ve acquired in class. Students will compete in a variety of different events, including advertising campaigns, promotion plans, and sales demonstrations, to name a few. Those who make it to finals will comprise the Top 12 and compete again on Tuesday evening, where three to four people will be selected to advance to Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia. “I’m excited to have it all pay off. Every time you compete you learn something,” said senior DECA student Ben Kilberg. DECA competitions give students the opportunity to demonstrate what they’ve learned through presentations that they’ve been working on all year. “It’s awesome because they’ve created really professional presentations. This is what it’s like in college, and it prepares them for future careers,” added advisor Alicia Savino.
