“The Bachelor” Brings Catfights and Changes
The holidays are over, but for ABC, the festivities are just beginning. Season nineteen of “The Bachelor” aired on Jan. 5th, 2015. This season features 33-year old Chris Soules, a farmer hailing from Iowa who has captured the attention of many women all across America.
Only one week in, and this season has already come with a twist: instead of the normal 25 women competing for the final rose, season nineteen began with 30 women. None of these women failed to make a first impression as they exited the limo, but only one woman could receive the first impression rose. That woman turned out to be Britt Nilsson, a waitress from California. Fans are already speculating on how these two seem to be the perfect match, already caught in an intense lip lock the first week. Undoubtedly overwhelmed, Soules struggled to make the right decisions at the first rose ceremony, and may or may not have already lost the respect of several women.
The number of women is not the only rule being broken this season. Last week, we were left with a cliffhanger where one woman who did not receive a rose decided that she did indeed deserved to stay. Being the viewer hungry channel that they are, ABC concluded the live season premiere saying that we would have to, “find out what happens next week!”
“The Bachelor” seems to get more and more dramatic each season, and there is still plenty of speculation going around on how much of it is scripted or staged. Whether or not it is real, the show is a definite crowd pleaser, and for many a guilty pleasure. The season’s spoilers are of course, already online, but if you’re a true Bachelor fan, you’ll wait until the final rose ceremony to see who wins Soules’ heart.
This season definitely shows the most potential in Bachelor history, with the perfect balance of romance and cat fights to go around. From the promo, fans can tell that Soules will have to undergo a journey of heartbreak and betrayal to ultimately find his wife, if he even gets to that point in one piece.
“The Bachelor” airs on ABC on Mondays at 8/7c.
