When EHS students go to sporting events, they go for the ultimate fan experience. And for some, the experience starts before the game even begins and can be a day long affair.
When a “superfan” wakes up, the first thing the person thinks about is going to the game that night. After waking up, junior Ryan Gaertner is “digging around in my closet for all the green and white that I can find”
Before the game, fans usually hang out with friends to prepare for the event. “I go to friends houses to get ready for the evening festivities!” sophomore Patrice Smith explained. “We usually eat and relax until it is time to go to the game.” Others like junior Maggie Wyatt may get ready at home and “strap on my bestEdinagear, and [then] I’ll pick up my friends for the game.”
Once students arrive at the game, the fun really starts. The student section is where all the high school students sit to talk, meet new friends and watch the game among swarms of green, white and black, and a screaming cheering crowd.
The student section is divided by grade, of course. Sophomore Pierce Schultz sits “with all the kids in my grade in the student section.” Wyatt explained “I am a junior so I sit in the middle of the student section because all the scary sen dawgs sit in the front!”
The best part of a sports event depends on personal preference. Smith votes for “the socializing, watchingEdinawin, or halftime!” But Gaertner believes “the best part of a sports event is the cheering!”
The “best” sports events to go to once again depends on personal preference. Wyatt explained, “The best sports games to go to are hockey games fo-sho! Because our hockey team is really good and entertaining and fun to watch!” On the other hand, Gaertner prefered “football games, for sure.”
To finish the ultimate sports experience, a superfan will head over to a friend’s house for an after party. The party is where friends talk about the game and hangout. Hopefully they will also be celebrating a victory!
