When you hear of the “Container Store,” you probably don’t think about boxes, shelves and nifty storage devices. You probably think about the top where students go the “stargaze,” gossip and surrender to other unmentionable shenanigans. Senior Shannon Hughes thinks of it as a “magical” place because that is the best spot to grab a panoramic view of Edina.
Eventually, that “magical view” will include a new restaurant called Pinstripes. It is currently moving into the unoccupied space connected to the south of the Container Store. Now the space looks like an unused office building, but the owners are in the process of moving in the restaurant equipment and furniture.
Pinstripes is an all-American restaurant with an Italian twist. The menu offers a range of pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, and fine meats. Patrons will be able to bowl, play bocce and eat at the same location. One wall of the restaurant is sliding glass doors, which open to an intimate veranda, with outdoor seating and fireplaces, overlooking Centennial Lakes.
This restaurant can accommodate over 600 guests, which is a good thing for students when they are frantically trying to find a restaurant to hold their 30+ person Homecoming group. Students might even consider Pinstripes for special occasions such as other dances, birthday parties, weddings, and family reunions, etc.
Joyce Repya, an associate planner for the City of Edina commented, “It will bring generations together. This chain of restaurants has a good reputation and it is a good fit for the community.”
This 32,000-square-foot building will attract people of all ages because of its many food choices and entertainment. Who doesn’t enjoy eating Italian and bowling or playing bocce at the same time? Additionally, it will bring more variety and sophistication to the area, which is currently surrounded by fast food establishments such as Leanne Chin, Five Guys and Pot Belly.
Even though students cherish the Container Store’s “magical top,” Pinstripes will not block it. So savor the view and get ready for the grand opening in November!
