Michael Rodriguez

Zoe Cheung

Michael Rodriguez

Zephyrus: What was it like waking people up for Homecoming Court

Michael Rodriguez: I was on the other side of the waking up the court. It was really cool because I had done that for the last three years (waking up the court). Sophomore year I didn’t know any of the people [who made court] and junior year I knew some of the people and now it was really cool to actually know every single person I was waking up and be the person who was right at the front screaming “you made court”. It was really fun and it was always a bit nerve racking because you never know if they were wearing adequate clothing under the covers so you have to keep the sheets on.

Zephyrus: Who had the funniest reaction to waking up and why?

M.R.: Emma Seymour definitely. Right when we pounded on her door she had this dazed and confused look and stared at us and asked “wait can I sleep now” and then five minutes later said “i’m so glad you guys didn’t take the covers off because i’m just wearing underwear under there”.

Zephyrus: What does being on court mean to you?

M.R.: It is a really cool feeling to know that my classmates have voted for me. [Homecoming Court] is a weird process and I know that a lot of people have some objections to it but knowing I had two friends in middle school to now as a senior to have been voted onto court is a really cool feeling

Zephyrus: What dance moves are you most looking forward to performing?

M.R.: I am looking forward to doing a little booty drop. Maybe a little Gangnam Style

Zephyrus: What will be your reaction if you win?

M.R.: No idea! I think I will just be overwhelmed by the whole thing, that would be terrifying, too scary to think about.

Zephyrus: What are some other activities you participate in?

M.R.: Model Un, Mock Trial, Student Council, Theatre, Choir.

Zephyrus: What’s better stud co, court or model UN

M.R.: Oh wow! I can’t make that decision! Do I actually have to decide one? Are you really going to make me do this! I love them all so much!
