The Activities Fair arrives without fail every year, and with it comes numerous clubs to help students find their passion. This year was another successful year for the fair, which hosted old clubs as well as new ones.
One of the new clubs featured this year was For Tomorrow’s Change, an organization focused on raising money to help others by selling concessions at sports games and having sales to support their cause.
“It uplifts the communities in need and also empowers students to build their business and entrepreneurship skills,” junior and club president Bonus Phanthurakse said.
The Badminton Club returned this year with leadership from senior badminton players Afia Attar and Akshaya Suresh Babu.
Attar said people who wish to learn more about badminton or develop their skills are encouraged to join. The club’s goal is for people to love badminton as much as Attar does.
Students with an interest in planes and flying now have the opportunity to join the new Aviation Club. The club, founded by juniors Ratik Jain and Nitish Iyengar, specializes in exploring the different aspects of the aviation industry. Jain said the club welcomes anyone who is eager about aviation and wants to find likeminded people.
The fair also had some longstanding clubs. The Rugby Club, started in 1997, has tournaments against other schools and travels for some matches in other countries.
“Last year, we went to Scotland, and this year we’re going to Colorado,” senior Griffin Zosel said. The club is welcoming new members, and Zosel said the Rugby Club provides a great sense of community for different types of people.
Christine Hanson, the administrative assistant of the Activities and Athletics Department, was one of the people in charge of setting up the fair this year.
“It’s cool that there’s so many different options for everybody,” she said. “Whatever you’re into, hopefully you’ve found something. If there’s a club that you want to start, you can still start it.”
